The Year In Review – Feb 09

In February I decided to throw a second compilation out, still getting a feel and sampling different styles of dance, but defaulting into the mainstream club music that MusicBoxMix had become known for. Here are highlight tracks that are still relevant in my book:
Kim Leoni – Medicine (Topmodelz Edit)
Jeanette – Undress To The Beat (Eddie Thonieck Edit)
Wally Lopez ft. Hadley – Burning Inside (Tikaro & J Louis & Ferran Radio Edit)
Still diggin’ this one: Ladyhawke – My Delirium (3bag Hot Pop Remix Edit)
We saw the release of what would turn out to be one of my favorite albums of 2009: Lily Allen’s It’s Not Me, It’s You – the lyrical narrative and tone were brillz! This little early masterpiece of 2009, afforded us a lovely anthem – and who didn’t love that?

Another great album I had serious love for from the moment of its release was Kelly Clarkson’s All I Ever Wanted – of which I didn’t care for any of the actual singles released when this head plenty of better material like Long Shot, Impossible, Don’t Let Me Stop You, All I Ever Wanted – but this saw a very commercial approach to bringing Kelly back from the dark abyss – as they claimed My December had been.

Again from the vault of the Sheena Beaston blog, we fell in love with this edgy, hard-hitting remix, whose artist later turned out to be a big deal for the rest of ’09:

Little Boots – Love Kills (Sidechains vs. Buffetlibre Mix)
And last but not least, the ubiquitous Gaga released her acoustic Cherrytree Sessions which gave an earful of real vocals to everyone who was taking her for another overproduced pop fabrication at the moment:
